What are Veneers?

What are veneers - Richmond Dental Centre - Nelson Dentists

A veneer is a wafer-thin laminate of tooth coloured porcelain (or sometimes composite resin), that is bonded on the surface of a tooth to improve its shape or colour. (Similar concept to a false finger nail).

They can be used to fix teeth that are severely discolored, chipped or misshapen, veneers create a durable and pleasing smile. Plus, veneers are difficult to stain, making them popular for people seeking a perfect smile and provide a natural, attractive look.

To care for your veneers, we suggest brushing and flossing just as you would your regular teeth. Proper daily brushing, and use of non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Consider limiting coffee and other stain-inducing foods.

Veneers will need to be replaced at some point, no matter how well you take care of them. But proper oral hygiene will help them last as long as possible.

If you're deciding on veneers, consult with your dentist and be sure you understand every part of the process and cost.
